Arapahoe holds off Southwest boys for win

ARAPAHOE - The Arapahoe boys basketball team overcame a sluggish start with two strong quarters then held on down the stretch to take down Southwest Friday, 41-38.

The Roughriders had the Warriors clamped down in the opening quarter, holding Arapahoe to two points while building a 10-2 lead through one.

But the Warriors controlled the second and the third, pulling even with 15 points in the second to knot the score at 17 at the half before surging in front 33-25 in the third.

But Southwest pushed back, posting 13 points in the final quarter, only to come up short by three.

Campbell Schutz led a balanced Warriors attack with 12 points and Tyler Miller scored eight. Grant Taylor scored seven and had seven steals and three assists. Andre Wasenius abs Cooper Wendland each scored six and Wendland grabbed eight rebounds.

Cole Barnett led the Roughriders with 10 points and Hunter Blume scored eight. Kaiden Ruggles scored six and had 10 rebounds. Nate Rippe pulled down six boards abs had two assists.
