Hi-Line boys win one, drop two tight games

After a resounding victory on opening night, the Hi-Line boys basketball team dropped a pair of hard-fought contests with Ansley-Litchfield and Maxwell to fall to 1-2 this season.

The Bulls trounced visiting Wilcox-Hildreth on opening night, scoring 26 points points in the first and 19 more in the second to build a 45-8 lead at the break. From there, they coasted to a 68-26 win.

Cade Schmidt scored 11, Colton Stubbs added 10 and Ian Corder finished with nine points in the victory. Ryker Evans added eight points and Treyton Evans scored seven. The Bulls had 20 steals in the game, led by six from Treyton Evans and three from Ryker Evans. Schmidt and Isaiah Bullis each added two and Schmidt and Cooper Ray each grabbed six rebounds.

Against Ansley-Litchfield, the Bulls held a modest 37-32 lead through three, but the Spartans closed out the win with a 16-4 fourth quarter.

Hi-Line shot 29 percent from the field as Ryker Evans scored 11 and swiped seven steals and Schmidt added eight and pulled down 12 rebounds.

Tuesday, the Bulls trailed by nine at the half after scoring just 17 points in the first two quarters, but surged back only to fall by two.
