ELWOOD - Eight area wrestlers took first and three local teams finished in the top four at the annual Hi-Line Invite Friday. Four Arapahoe wrestlers captured the top spot on the podium to push the Warriors to a runaway team title, scoring 138.5 points.

BARTLEY - In the first big tournament of the season, the Southwest girls wrestling team shined on its home stage, taking first place in its 30-team invite Friday. Capri Sayer led the Roughriders with a first-place finish at 105 pounds, pinning her way to the title, while Rylan Custard (125) and Madelyn Tryon (235) each finished runner-up.

MCCOOK - At Tuesday’s first round of the Cattle Trail Tournament in McCook, four area teams earned victories and advanced to Friday’s semifinals. In girls’ action, Maywood- Hayes Center rolled past Medicine Valley, 71-17, and will battle Decatur Community Friday at 6:30 p.m.

EUSTIS - The Hi-Line boys basketball team opened its season with consecutive victories, downing Wilcox-Hildreth Thursday, 39-32, and Ansley-Litchfield Friday, 46-39. The Bulls clamped down on the Falcons late Thursday, holding Wilcox-Hildreth to just four points in the fourth quarter to pull away for the seven-point victory.

EUSTIS - The Hi-Line girls rebounded from a lopsided first quarter on opening night to post a victory over Wilcox-Hildreth, 30-26. The Bulls trailed 16-0 after one period and trailed 20-13 to the fourth, but they scored 17 points over the final eight minutes to rally for the fourpoint victory.
