Furnas County to participate in Make It Click Enforcement campaign

The Furnas County Sheriff ’s Office, with funding from the Nebraska Department of Transportation/Highway Safety Office, will be participating in the Make It Click Enforcement campaign that will run from May 20-June 2, 2024. Additional Deputies will be working during this time period to enforce seat belt and child restraint violations with the goal of reducing the number of injuries in traffi c accidents from not being restrained.

Southern Valley looking at roof and flooring repairs The Southern Valley Board of Education met for their regular meeting on Monday, May 13 at 7:30 pm. The board heard from Alyson Adams, 2024 graduate and art student who is a congressional art contest winner. She attended the meeting with her grandparents. Adams spoke to the board saying her portrait drawing of her grandparents won first place and she gets to go to Washington DC. The plane ticket is paid for, but she would like help with hotel costs. Superintendent Bryce Jorgenson said the board has done this for other contest winners in the past. Jorgenson will make the hotel reservation at a place closer to the capital. The board congratulated Adams.
