Common Sense Health Care

Body
When I meet with hospitals and health care viders around Nebraska, both prior to and during the current pandemic, the impact of unnecessary regulations on their ability to care areas at the top of their list of concerns. Over the last four years I have appreciated working with the Trump administration on these issues because of their persistent willingness to listen to rural Americans, take these concerns seriously, and act. We cannot afford to go in the other direction.

Sappa Creek and the Stone House

Body
Sappa Peak has an elevation of 2,231 feet and is located in Harlan County. In 1869 the 5th Calvary Lt. Jeff Volkmar discovered a stone man approximately 25 feet long that depicted a man holding a spear and a shield and wearing a medal around his neck. It is believed that a native American tribe of the Blackfeet constructed the stone man. However, this sacred monument was destroyed in 1879-80 an early American settler who took stones from this site on Sappa Peak and loaded them in a wagon to be hauled four miles north to build his house on what is now half way between Stamford and Orleans on highway 89. There is some interest in restoring the stone house.
