Cambridge City Council hears update on Land Bank project

Cambridge City Council met in regular session on Monday, July 19, 2021. All Council Members were present for the meeting. After approving the consent agenda, John Kutnink and Larry Maatsch spoke about the updated ambulance bid. In the bid presented to the Council, the quoted ambulance price would be $222,730 and would include a stair chair, an air handling system, and storage for the portable oxygen. This bid would have to be approved by the end of the month or the price would increase. Kutnink and Maatsch also spoke about a seven-year contract with Stryker for a cot and power load. This would be an additional cost, but would include service and yearly inspection. Council members discussed how to fund the ambulance and it was decided that Kandra Kinne, City Clerk/ Treasurer, would find out how much of the project could be funded through the Public Safety Bond. Council then made a motion to approve the bid. The motion passed.

SWNPHD Walk to Health Team Challenge Winners

Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department’s (SWN- PHD) annual Walk to Health Team Challenge was recently completed. The program lasted for 12 weeks and included 422 residents of all ages. “The goal of the Walk to Health program is to get people to increase their activity level,” states Myra Stoney, Health Director of SWNPHD. “The results of the challenge were amazing, with 260,342,299 total steps taken by participants of the Walk to Health Team Challenge 2021.” Over 90% reported an increase in their activity level.

One spot remains for Oxford Housing Rehab

The Village of Oxford has funds remaining for the owner-occupied housing rehabilitation program to rehabilitate 5 homes within the municipal limits of Oxford. Homeowners must live in the home, have $25,000 equity in the home, carry homeowner insurance and be income qualified. Applications will be received on a first-come, firstserved basis. The maximum allowable funding per home rehab is $25,000; given in the form of a forgivable loan. Items looked at are lead based paint, electrical, plumbing, windows, HVAC, and accessibility. Applications may be picked up at the Village Office at 326 Ogden Avenue, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Gross income for a family of 4 cannot be greater than $56,250.
