The Cambridge City Council held a public hearing on Monday, October 18, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss requiring a conditional use permit for accessory buildings that exist after the primary dwelling has been moved or demolished. Currently, according to zoning regulations, these buildings cannot be used unless another primary dwelling is built on the lot. After much discussion between Council members, the Public Hearing closed at 7:10 p.m. It was decided to recommend to add “accessory buildings which existed as a subordinate to primary structure and remaining after the primary structure has been demolished or removed from the property,” as a permitted use in zoning regulations.

During the regular city council meeting on October 4, 2021, an ordinance that would prohibit the feeding of wild animals and feral cats, was read for a second time. The third and final reading for Ordinance 409 will be read on October 18, 2021.

The Village of Oxford Board of Trustees approved a new wage ordinance for the Oxford Public Library during their meeting on Monday, October 18. The new ordinance set the wage for the library director at $12.50 per hour, the level 2 assistant at $9.50 per hour and the level 1 assistant at $9. The board also approved the minutes of the library meetings from September 14 and October 1. Board chairman Clint McQuiston asked about the new photo kiosk and was told it is in the library now.
