A Memorial Service for John W. Hawley will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Republican City Methodist Church in Republican City, Nebraska, with Pastor Seong Lee officiating. Please join us to honor a life well lived. Inurnment will follow at the Republican City Cemetery, near the resting-place of five generations of relatives. Military Honors will be provided by the Alma American Legion, Fay Cady Post #118, in conjunction with the Navy Funeral Honors Team.

Bernard Eugene Jones passed away January 9th, 2022 at his home, surrounded by family. Bernie was born March 9, 1942 to Zelma May (Kester) and Daniel B Jones in Cambridge, Nebraska. Bernie enjoyed spending his childhood days outside fishing, hunting, and building forts along the Medicine Creek with friends Richard Taylor and Eric Eisenhart. The men have few childhood memories without one another, considered one another brothers, and remained friends for life. Bernie and his family were survivors of the 1947 flood.

Sharlene Janet Schrock (age 90) of Arapahoe, NE passed away on February 13, 2022 at the Cambridge Hospital surrounded by her three daughters. She was born November 29, 1931 to Albert and Maude (Rhoten) Garrett at her Grandpa Rhoten’s house in Rexford, KS. Sharlene attended school in Rexford and graduated with the Class of 1949. She married Maurice Schrock in Rexford on June 19, 1949 and to this union six children were born.

She was born to Harry Lawrence and Marie Evelyn (Lomax) Martin on February 20, 1934 on the family farm southwest of Beaver City, Nebraska. The Cambridge Memorial Hospital Auxiliary recently purchased five Stryker wheelchairs for the Tri Valley Health Services Specialty Clinic, Greeter’s Desk and Emergency Room areas. Funds came from the sale of items donated by the community at the TVHS Auxiliary Thrift Store in downtown Cambridge. The wheelchairs, valued at $13,600, are among the many items purchased by the Auxiliary for TVHS/TVHS Assisted Living in 2021. Auxiliary members pictured include Elnora Burke, Vicki Jones, Jessica Fisher, Charla Mehaffie, Marilyn KIinkebiel, Cheryl Schaeffer, Marlene Witte, Peggy Rawn, Sharon Lightle, Kathy Graf, Joy Deterding, Linda Johnson, Betty Kruger, Pat Downer and Linda Sandman.
