SV Board approves purchases

The Southern Valley Board of Education approved several purchases and an electrical bid during their meeting on Monday, March 14. The board looked at three bids for electrical work for the new bus barn. The bid from Dry Creek Electric was approved after some discussion on the bids received. Superintendent Bryce Jorgenson said he prefers to go local when asked for his opinion. The board also said they would like to see the job done by the time school is out.

Four from the Southern Valley speech team have earned their way to the State meet in three events after placing in the top three at districts on March 4. They are Kyleah Branham placed third in poetry, Shae Mitchell placed third in entertainment, and the Oral Interpretation of Drama team of Brianna Jorgenson, Kolby Hunt and Shae Mitchell placed second. Five other entries from Southern Valley made the finals: Brianna Russell, Humorous Prose, 6th; Shelby Rickert, Informative, 5th; Shelby Rickert, Extemp, 5th; Brianna Jorgenson, entertainment, 4th; Laurel Stalder and Rayn Johnson, Duet, 7th. SW School Board to sell surplus property

President Teter called the regular meeting of the Southwest Public Schools Board of Education to order at 7:30 p.m. on March 14, 2022 at the Southwest Elementary School in Indianola, with all board members present, Superintendent Porter and Principal Springer. Visitors included Patrick and Pamela Minary, and Michelle O’Dea.
