Cambridge girls take title as local track teams open season

The Cambridge girls track and field team opened its season with a team title at the Wilcox-Hildreth Invite Friday as 15 teams battled chilly temperatures and breezy conditions to open their seasons. The Trojans scored 117.5 points at the meet to finish 21 points ahead of Axtell for the team title.

Each year since 2006, the Nebraska School Activities Association and the Nebraska Chiropractic Physicians Association recognize students who have been nominated by their schools, based on their individual academic excellence, leadership, and significant contributions made to their NSAA activity by honoring them with the NCPA Academic All-State Award.

Cambridge Council approves preliminary plat of Williams Additions

Cambridge City Council met in regular session on Monday, March 21, 2022. Council member Mike Harris was absent. Many guests were in attendance at the meeting. After the recognition of the Open Meeting Laws and the Pledge of Allegiance, a public hearing was held to consider the preliminary plat of the proposed Williams Addition and the Williams First Addition subdivision.

With extremely dry conditions in our area, fires have been a problem for area fire departments in recent weeks. Arapahoe Fire Chief Brian Sisson reported that they have been called for mutual aid to Cambridge and Oxford in recent weeks.

Senator Murman’s Legislative Update

After this week, the Nebraska Legislature has only fifteen working days left in this year’s sixtyday Legislative session. Most of the debate this week and next week has centered on (and will focus on) the State’s budget and how we spend the federal ARPA funds. A major component of these discussions this week has involved whether to build a new state prison and whether the state should adopt criminal justice reform measures that aim to reduce crime and recidivismg.

A trip to the Hawaiian Islands

Well we did it. The opportunity came up for Dale and I to visit Hawaii, and we took it. Although I must admit that I was not looking forward to it that much, there are a lot of places in the continental US that I want to see and my walking ability has been impaired quite a bit over the past year or so, making travel a little less ‘fun’ shall we say.
