Richard Lyle Conner, 84, passed away July 14, 2022 in St. John, KS. He was born February 11, 1938 to Harold Wilbur and Goldie Pearl Conner (Dillan) in Wilsonville, NE. Richard enjoyed tinkering with his projects, going to the senior center to play cards (preferably Pitch), going fishing and helping other farmers out during harvest season. He also owned his own mechanic shop and liked to put a 350 chevy engine in any type of vehicle. Richard is survived by his sons, Randal West of St. John, KS and Gary Conner (Starla) of Phillipsburg, KS; daughters, Doris Cooper (Starling) of Avon, IN, Mary Bohl (significant other, Robert) of Drexel, MO, Tina Hursman (Derrick) of Concordia, MO; brother-in-law, Bill Hofferber; sister, Lois Vandusen (Dennis) of Kearney, NE; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Mary E. Youngquist will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Orleans, Nebraska with Pastor Dave Irwin officiating. A private inurnment will be held prior to the service at the Stamford Cemetery in Stamford, Nebraska.

The Nebraska Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for grants through the Independent Processor Assistance Program. Johnathan Hladik, policy director at the Center for Rural Affairs, said the agency is expected to distribute nearly $10 million from the American Rescue Plan Act to Nebraskans, in an effort to improve and expand the state's meatprocessing capabilities.

(Lincoln) July 15, 2022 –Vikram Menon of Omaha and Holden Fershee of Omaha have been selected as the 2022 American Legion Boys’ Nation delegates from Nebraska. 209 high school juniors from across Nebraska participated in the 82nd Session of The American Legion Cornhusker Boys’ State, June 5 – 11 at the University of Nebraska Lincoln downtown campus. The annual citizenship program, sponsored by the Nebraska American Legion, is designed to provide youths with a better understanding of how a city, county, and state governments operate.
