CAMBRIDGE - In a marathon of a game, the Cambridge girls basketball team needed three overtimes to beat South Loup at home, 62-54, Friday. A defensive contest went to overtime tied at 36, then each team scored four in the first overtime to force a second.

OVERTON - With a strong fourth quarter, the Southern Valley girls baksetball team left Overton with a 45-36 victory Saturday, improving to 3-1 this season. A slugfest had ensued early as Southern Valley led 5-4 after a quarter, but the visiting Eagles broke open a lead with an 18-point second quarter to lead 23-15 at the half.

PLEASANTON - The Hi-Line boys basketball team dropped a pair of close losses last week, falling to Maxwell 55-51 Tuesday and 79-74 in overtime to Pleasanton Friday. The Bulls scored 43 points in the second half to overcome a 10-point deficit and force overtime against the Bulldogs Friday, but were outscored 11-6 in the extra session to fall to Pleasanton.

With a strong second half, the Hi-Line girls basketball team pulled away from visting Maxwell for a 53-33 victory, its first of the season. The Bulls had trailed 26-24 at the half, but held the Wildcats to just seven points in the second half and outscored Maxwell 29-7 to roll away to the victory.
