Three area girls basketball teams will battle in their respective subdistrict championship games Thursday after posting victories to advance Tuesday night. Top-seeded Southern Valley flew past South Loup Tuesday and will match up with North Platte St.

Arapahoe bowling team puts cap on “Banner Year”

LINCOLN - Just a freshman, Arapahoe’s Lauren Moore made a big statement for herself at last week’s State Bowling Tournament. With a fifth place finish at the Class B Girls State Bowling Individual tournament, Moore capped a strong tournament all-around for the Warriors, who qualified its entire girls team as well as three individuals, including Moore.

Joseph “Joe” Leonard Edwards 90 of McCook passed away at the Hillcrest Caring Center on February 6, 2023. He was born south of Culberston on August 12, 1932 to Floyd and Josephine (Schmitt) Edwards. Later the family moved to the homestead of his grandparents, Simpson and Rosella (Doherty) Edwards. Joe served his country in the Unites States Army joining the service in Denver, CO on February 5, 1951.

Arapahoe girls bowling claims district title, competes at Class B State

LEXINGTON - With a team score of 2669, the Arapahoe girls bowling team captured the District B-6 Title last Wednesday and qualified for the Class B State Tournament in Lincoln Tuesday. The Warriors rolled past Lexington, the district runnerup, Southern Valley and Ogallala, beating the entire field by more than 150 pins.
