For school administrators, a decade ago or so, there were teaching positions that were always a challenge to fill, but there were some spots that were not a sweat. Positions such as math or science might only garner a few applications, but a physical education position that included coaching opportunities might return dozens of interested parties.

Tournament season begins for golfers at Cambridge Invite

CAMBRIDGE - The Arapahoe, Cambridge and Southern Valley golf teams opened their tournament seasons at the Cambridge Invite Thursday. Southern Valley’s Braxton Hammond and Matt Henderson each shot an 88 to finish tied for eighth place and were the lone local medalists.

ELWOOD - With some shortened rosters due to the State FFA Convention, the Arapahoe, Hi-Line, Southern Valley and Southwest track and field teams competed at the Hi-Line Invite Thursday. In the girls competition, Southern Valley finished third with 50 points, followed by Arapahoe in fourth with 43.

MCCOOK - The Cambridge track and field teams competed at the Hoehner Invite in McCook Thursday, taking on a number of Class B schools in the event. The Cambridge girls finished tied for fourth with Colby and Lexington, scoring 52 points at the event.
