Sometimes it’s not often - my mind drifts and turns and creates this idea that I cannot get out of my head. To me, and probably only me, this idea is brilliant, short of some of moon and sun and science stuff, but we’ll get to that in a minute.

American Indians face some unique challenges when it comes to caring for their health. Culturally, we view health in a Holistic manner as a balance of our bodies, mind and spirit that allows for good health.

Dorothy Faye (Wolfe) Tyler was born on June 14th, 1930 to Byron and Etta Wolfe in their Holbrook, NE home. She attended various country schools in the Holbrook, Cambridge, and Wilsonville areas, quitting school in the 10th grade to work in the Wilsonville Café to help support the family. She bought their first Christmas tree (a small one since space was limited (too!)

Phyllis Jean (Kubik) Langan was born on Monday August 5, 1935 at Cambridge Nebraska to Francis Bernard and Irene Mary (Witte) Kubik. She passed away on April 4th 2023 in Kearney Nebraska at the age of 87. She was born in Cambridge rather than at home near Wilsonville, where her parent resided, because the year prior to her birth her mother had delivered a stillborn baby boy, due to eclampsia, and was at high risk of complications. She was baptized on August 6, 1935 at St John’s Catholic Church in Cambridge.

Bridgeport, NE resident Glenda L. Walinder passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2023 in Bridgeport at the age of 68.

Rosalie “Rose” M. Desmond, age 91, formerly of McCook, NE passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society of Oberlin, KS. She was born in Wilsonville, NE on January 20, 1932, to Earl and Lizzie Belle (Bates) Palmer. Rose attended and graduated from Wilsonville High School in 1950. Rose was united in marriage to Bennie G. Desmond on July 24, 1951. To this union three children were born: Bennie JR, Dannie, and Marilyn.

BERTRAND - The Southern Valley girls finsihed second and the Hi-Line boys were third at the Jerry Stine Invite in Bertrand Friday. The Eagles’ boys and Bulls’ girls were each eighth.

CAMBRIDGE - Local team enjoyed successful trips to the Medicine Vallet Invite, held in Cambridge Friday. The Cambridge girls track and field team took the team title while the the Trojans finished runner-up in the boys’ field.

CURTIS - The Hi-Line golf team was eighth, Cambridge was ninth and Southwest was 12th at the Medicine Valley Invite held in Curtis Thursday. No individuals medaled from the three teams, though Hi-Line’s Gavin Tilson missed a medal by a stroke with a 95, helping the Bulls to a 421 on the day.
