Excellence in Detention Facility Operations awarded to Furnas County

Body
The Furnas County Jail is an eight bed facillity located on the first floor of the Furnas County Courthouse which was opened in 1951. In this age of not being able to hire stff, this jail has gone years without having any staff turnover. That is because they take good care of stff and inmates. The jail has been in full compliance with the Nebraska Jail Standards for all but two years of its inspection history. The folks who run this facility do a great job of efficiently utilizing every space in the jail and this jail has over the last eight years undergone a renaissance of sorts.
