The annual Horseshoe Tournament was held on Saturday afternoon at the Elwood Park. Receiving 1st place was Rich Junod and Tucke Pankowski, 2nd place was Shane Tilson and Ryan Shutts, 3rd place Aaron Brandt and Jake Gydesen, 4th place Blake Lambert and Dave Howell and 5th place Brad and David Bader.

Buck’n Beaver Jr Rodeo The Buck’n Beaver Jr Rodeo will be back during the 2023 Eager Beaver Days celebration in Beaver City on September 16th. There will be fun events like stick horse racing, dummy roping, calf scramble, wild sheep milking, boot race, goat scramble, goat tie, mutton bustin, calf riding, steer riding and mini miss rodeo princess.

Maintenance Work Will begin on n-89, near orleans

July 26, 2023 (McCook, Neb.) — Weather permitting, a chip seal project will begin August 2 on N-89, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Chip seal is an application of an asphalt binder to a roadway surface followed by an aggregate.

Brown receives CCC Diploma

(Hastings, Neb.) – Central Community College-Hastings honored about 360 graduate candidates May 5 during its 56th annual commencement ceremony. Forty-five of the degree candidates achieved an accumulative gradepoint average of 3.75 or higher during their college career and graduated with honors.

Vaccines for Children Public Clinics

The summer has flown by, and schools and colleges will be starting up again soon. Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) will be offering Vaccines for Children at public clinics in August. Now is the perfect time to get your child up to date on shots that they will need to start school. Anyone two months of age and older are invited to get their vaccinations.
Cambridge Lions installed a new club President in July. Kathryn Heitmann will be serving as President for the next year and we want to thank Past President, Vicki Brown, for her leadership and commitment. Medicine Valley Lady Raider Volleyball camp

On Thursday, July 20th, the Medicine Valley Lady Raider Volleyball Team hosted a youth volleyball camp for kids entering Kindergarten thru 8th grade. They had 60 Campers attend, from near and far. It was a fun day filled with volleyball drills, games and memories made on the court. The Lady Raider Volleyball team is hoping to host a youth volleyball night at one of their games this fall!

Honored Veteran Raymond Kelley, Captain, United States Air Force, was presented a Quilt of Valor for his service to our nation in a ceremony at Kinship Pointe, McCook, Nebraska on Sunday, July 16, 2023. Valarie Geisert of Ogallala, representing the Panhandle Blocks Quilts of Valor group, was on hand to make the presentation.
