Steve Allan Frear, 67, of Dannebrog, died unexpectedly on September 18, 2023, at his home in Dannebrog, Nebraska. A Celebration of Steve’s life was held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Livingston Sonderman Funeral Home in Grand Island. Pastor Mark Oberbeck will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the NRA, Pheasants Forever, or Ducks Unlimited. Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul is assisting the family.

August 4, 1934 – September 26, 2023 Marilyn J. Vontz was born to James G. Wood and Roma E. Armstrong in Stuart, Nebraska, deep in the heart of Nebraska’s sandhills. The family moved several times looking for work during the Great Depression but lived the longest in Indianola, NE at a former POW Camp that housed workers from the Bureau of Reclamation. Marilyn was a 1953 graduate of Indianola High School.

GOTHENBURG - After a scoreless first inning, the wheels came off for Southern Valley/Alma in the second as second-seeded Cozad scored eight runs to blow open what would be an 11-0 victory in four innings, eliminating the Saints from the subdistrict tournament and ending their season at 9-17.

The Medicine Valley football team continues to look for its first win of the season after a 16-62 loss to Bertrand Friday. The Raiders took an 8-6 lead when Mason Roblee hit Brody Senff for a 52-yard touchdown with 3:11 left in the first quarter.
