September was National Food Safety Month, and Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) encourages residents to think about how food is handled in their homes. Food that is mishandled can lead to foodborne illness. While the United States has one of the safest food supplies in the world, preventing foodborne illness remains a major public health challenge. About 1 in 4 of all disease investigations done by SWNPHD are related to gastrointestinal illnesses, including food poisoning.

Cambridge City Council approves resolution to set property tax levy

Cambridge City Council met in regular session on Monday, October 2, 2023, at 6:30 pm. Council member Vernita Sailors was absent from the meeting. After beginning with the Pledge of Allegiance, the Council moved on to approve the following consent agenda items: Approval of the minutes of the September 18, 2023, City Council meeting, approval of the claims report, and approval of the Cambridge Museum Board minutes from September 20, 2023. Council also passed Resolution 2023-10-01, Rescinding Prior Resolution No. 2023-06-13 Declaration of Nuisance Property 2023 CAM 047, Resolution 2023-10-02 Resolution on set Property Tax Levy, and Resolution 2023-10-03, Resolution to enter into the League Insurance Government Health Team Interlock Agreement.
