CAMBRIDGE - With a big third quarter, the Cambridge boys basketball team avenged a loss to Alma from the RPAC Tournament with a 57-55 win Friday night at home. The Cardinals led early and maintained a 27-24 advantage at the half, but Cambridge scored 18 third-quarter points to move in front, 42-38, going to the fourth.

Hi-Line qualifies three for Class C State

BROKEN BOW - At th always-challenging District C-4 Tournament, the Hi-Line wrestling team qualified three for the Class C State Tournament. Parker Schutz led the way, finishing runner-up at 126 pounds and Connor Edwards won three-staright through the consolation bracket to take fourth and qualify at 106.

Arapahoe qualifies five from District D-3

PLEASANTON - The Arapahoe wrestling team qualifi ed five for State and finished runner-up at the District D-3 Tournament in Pleasanton. Briggs Hill took the district title for the Warriors at 132 pounds and Grayson Koller was runner-up at 150 pounds.
Arapahoe’s Briggs Hill captured a 10-8 victory in the 132 championship match Saturday.

SHELBY - In a tournament that featured seven of the top 14 teams in the latest NEWrestle rankings, District D-2 proved to be a dogfight at most weight classes. Both Cambridge and Southwest managed to qualify individuals for this week’s Class D State Tournament.

WEEPING WATER - The Southern Valley wrestling team advanced three on to the State Tournament and had three others come within a win of State while finishing sixth at the District D-1 Tournament. Braxton Hammond improved to 46-2 while pinning his way to a title at 120.

A great time was had by all at St. Paul Lutheran's Mother/ Daughter Spa Night Friday, February 2 at the Cambridge Community Center. Thirtyfour mothers and daughters gathered together for fun bonding activities including manicures, making personalized compact mirrors, fashion plates, creative shoe-tying, and crafting loving notes to one another. Jean Berreckman from Cozad gave a moving presentation on 'Beauty on the Inside' and Kayla Barnes from Elwood gave a well-received talk on skincare basics. Yummy hors' d'oeuvres and punch as well as a 1930's style selfie station were provided for moms and daughters' enjoyment.

Seventeen wrestlers headed to CHI

Across five different district tournaments, seventeen local wrestlers qualified for this week’s State Wrestling Tournament in Omaha. Beginning with Friday’s Girls District 4 Tournament at Broken Bow, both Southwest’s Madelyn Tryon, who finished runner-up at 190 pounds, and Southern Valley’s Hayley Serfontein, who took third at 120 pounds, qualified for the Girls State Tournament, which is still one class of this season.
