The Indianola City Council met on August 5th at 5:30 p.m. at Indianola City Hall, and began the meeting by approving the previous minutes, claims, and the June 2024 Treasurer Report.

Cambridge Unit 199 of the American Legion Auxiliary met in regular session in the community building with 6 members present. President Marlene Witte called the meeting to order at 2:10 p.m.

Join The Garden Prairie Church for their annual Ice Cream Social on August 18th from 5-7:30 p.m. at the church. Over 20 kinds of homemade ice cream and desserts will be served. A free will offering will be taken to split between Thatcher Skolout and Lami Oladimeji (Tunde’s wife) for medical expenses.

We’ve had rain! Beautiful, wonderful rain! No hail, no wind, no flooding, just a nice slow rain. The Hill received a total of about 1.30” and that seemed to be in the ballpark of most other reports across the general area. And we’ll take more just like it!

Fifty-five years ago, the last person graduated from Indianola High; thus, the class of 1969 is celebrating their 55th Anniversary! The Indianola Alumni 1891–1969 met August 8, 2024 at St Catherine’s Church Hall, with a total of 53 attendees, including graduates, spouses, and guests traveling from several states to join us. We were pleased to have Tom Vontz (Class of 1956) and his wife Joyce here from Buttonwillow CA, as well as his daughters Christy Hern and Patsy Janzen.

Shafer Family Reconnects at Methodist Cove for the 55th Annual Shindig! Over 130 members of the Shafer clan gathered for the 55th year in a row to celebrate their connections to each other and Robert and Velma Osborn Shafer of Edison. Host for the July 31-Aug 4 event was the Billy Shafer family.

Thursday to Monday morning houseguests of Gary and Brenda Davis were grandkids, Bronson and Bentley Arnold of Kearney and Dylan, Ansley and Taylor Petr of Hastings. Norma Darnall of Farnam and Erin Darnall, Stetson, Oaklynn and Elain of Lincoln were a week ago Friday to Monday guests of Steven Darnall, Hannah and Maci at Plainview.
