Arapahoe, Neb., August 16, 2024 – Ag Valley Co-op is proud to announce that two of its exceptional interns, Megan Amos and Jasper Hunt, have been awarded the prestigious Tom Hansen Memorial Scholarship, a testament to their hard work and dedication to their education and future careers in agriculture.

The Southwest School’s Board of Education met for their August meeting on August 12 at 7:30 p.m. After approving the agenda and Old Business Items, the board discussed the previously tabled Policy 6040 Prekindergarten (Preschool or Early Childhood) Program. The item was tabled at last month’s meeting to make the necessary changes before its approval.

The Cambridge Lions made a $500 donation to the Cambridge Public Schools weekend food backpack program. This program provides a backpack of food for kids to take home over the weekend so they return to school on Monday morning rested, fed, and ready to learn.

LINCOLN, NE (08/19/2024)-- The University of Nebraska-Lincoln conferred 574 degrees during a combined graduate and undergraduate commencement ceremony Aug. 17 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Thomas Holt Chesshir (Tom), 82, passed away at Tri Valley Health System in Cambridge, Nebraska on August 17, 2024. Tom was born July 9, 1942 in Howard County, Arkansas to Thomas and Beatrice (Wise) Chesshir.

Lyman (Bud) Samuel Seybold was born on September 17, 1928 at Trenton, Nebraska. He was 95 when he peacefully passed away in his sleep on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at his son’s home in McGregor, Minnesota.

Larry L. Barnhart of Punta Gorda, FL, former Newton resident and Newton High School teacher, football and track coach passed away-August 18, 2024, he was 83 years old.
