Time for Flu Shots and COVID-19 Shots

Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) encourages residents to get their flu shots and COVID-19 shot updates to protect against respiratory illnesses this winter. SWNPHD has seen an increase of COVID-19 cases over the past few weeks, following the late summer wave of infections seen across most of the country.

Community Hospital responds to Nationwide Shortage

McCook, Neb. – With a nationwide shortage of intravenous (IV) fluids following the temporary closure of Baxter’s manufacturing plan in Marion, North Carolina, Community Hospital is preparing by taking proactive measures to manage the current supply.

Oxford declares a dangerous building

The Village of Oxford Board of Trustees approved a resolution declaring the property at 701 Central a dangerous building during their regular meeting on Monday, October 14, 2024. The property has been looked at by the board of health as well as receiving complaints by other residents. Bobbi Pettit, Five Rule Planning, said the law firm they work with on properties will get the paperwork filed. Five Rule will also send the letters out to the owners.

SWNE Big Give Groups have focus on young and elderly

McCOOK - While it can be hard to categorize some of the non-profit organizations involved in the Southwest Nebraska Big Give, many of them have a specific focus on young and older community members. And all of them are seeking donations during the Big Give on Thursday, Nov. 7.

With less than a month until the 2024 Southwest Nebraska Big Give, organizers would like to introduce all the organizations which are part of the one day of giving. But with more than 40 nonprofi ts, the groups have been loosely divided into groups, somewhat based on the projects they are working on or people they are serving. By the Big Give on Thursday, Nov. 7, all of the organizations will be covered, starting with the non-profits which are working toward a specific project and/or entity.

NCTA Trunk or Treat October 31 in Curtis

Come out and enjoy a night of Trunk or Treat Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Education Center Parking Lot. Attendance is Free! Stop by to grab some candy and see the different designs put together by the students and campus clubs at Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis. This event is open to everyone.
