FLU VACCINATIONS -Flu vaccinations are still available. They are usually covered at 100% by Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and Private Insurance.

Respiratory virus season will be arriving soon. Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and Influenza (flu) are common during the fall and winter months. Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) encourages residents to get their RSV vaccinations and flu shots now.

Dorothy Lee (Manley) Ankenman, age 94, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024 with family by her side at the Beaver City Manor in Beaver City, Nebraska. She was born on June 21, 1930 on the farm southeast of Wilsonville, Nebraska to Herman and Ethel (Brown) Manley.

Kelly D. “Huff” Brooking, a beloved resident of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, passed away on November 14, 2024, at the age of 67, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on 09/02/1957 in Ord, Nebraska to Betty Hrabik and Dan Huff. Kelly is survived by her husband, Scott Brooking; mother, Betty Huff; sister and brother-in-law, Becky Huff and Richard Garcia; sister-in-law Judi Huff; sister-in-law and brother- in-law, Barb and Jerry Pedlar, sisters-in-law - Linda Borowiec, Becky Brooking, Tami Brooking; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Mark D. Johansen passed away on November 9th, 2024 as a result of anaplastic thyroid carcinoma which is a rare and highly aggressive cancer.

Charles Lee Vaughan Pruitt, age 83, of Holdrege, Nebraska formerly of Arapahoe, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at this home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on November 21, 1940 at Pangburn, Arkansas to Charles Eli & Artie Delaval (Adams) Pruitt. He was the oldest of seven children.
