Nitrogen Reduction Incentive Act

Lower Republican Natural Resources District (LRNRD) and the Nebraska Department of Natural Resources (NeDNR) are partnering in a new program to reduce nitrogen fertilizer inputs. Earlier this year, the Nebraska Legislature passed LB 1368, establishing the Nitrogen Reduction Incentive Act (NiRIA). This state funded program encourages producers to reduce the use of commercial fertilizers by offering financial incentives.

Cambridge Legion Auxiliary Unit 199 hold Wreaths Across America ceremony

Cambridge Unit 199 of the American Legion Auxiliary once again brought Wreaths Across America to our local community. At 9:00 a.m. on Dec. 14, a ceremony at Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge honored all members of the U.S. military past and present and their families, after which balsam wreaths were placed at the burial site of each veteran in our cemetery.

Arapahoe Chamber Christmas lighting contest winners

Arapahoe was looking bright for the Christmas lights judging. It was so hard to pick just 3 winners. The annual lighting contest winners for 2024 are 1st place: Joann & Gary Strysick, 2nd place: Jennifer and Troy Meyers and 3rd place: Dalton Metzger. Con-gratulations and thank you to everyone who put up lights to make Arapahoe a fun and festive commuity. If you haven’t taken a cruise around town yet, go enjoy the lights soon.
The Oxford Public Library held their story hour with a Christmas theme on Friday, December 13. There were snacks, ornament making, and a story. These three proudly show off their crafting abilities.

Maywood students selected for UNK Choral Festival

Maywood students Emma Peterka, Katie Domes, and Rowan Fletchers were selected for the University of Nebraska Kearney Choral Festival. The festival is on January 27, 2025 with an all day clinic and concert that evening. Students are chosen for the UNK Honor Band and Choral Clinic through application and auditions that were submitted by the end of October.

UNK degrees for 394 to be conferred at Friday’s winter commencement

KEARNEY – Graduate and undergraduate degrees will be conferred for 394 winter graduates at University of Nebraska at Kearney commencement exercises 10 a.m. Friday (Dec. 20) at UNK’s Health and Sports Center. Candidates for degrees are listed below in three groups: graduates from Nebraska, graduates from across the United States and international graduates.
