Dawson Public Power District’s board of directors met on January 9, 2025. The board voted to rebalance irrigation rates by decreasing energy charges and increasing the demand portion of the rate.

The Elwood Public Schools Board of Education met on Monday, January 13, 2025. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. All board members were present. Newly elected board members, Ryan Shutts, Mark Weissert, and Bryant Knoerzer were sworn in, and the board re-elected officers and reviewed committee appointments. Public comment was made.

The Village of Oxford Board of Trustees met for their regular meeting on Monday, January 13 at 5:30 pm. Absent from the meeting was Chad Cunningham and Scott Hamilton.

A multi-state extension workshop series for women in agriculture will offer strategies to evaluate and improve farm estate and transition plans. “Leaving a Lasting Legacy for Midwestern Farm Women: A Succession Planning Series,” will be held from 5 to 8 p.m.

KEARNEY - After consecutive blowout wins against Hi-Line and Paxton, the Maywood-Hayes Center girls basketball team saw its eightgame win streak halted by a 58-42 defeat to Shelton at the Girls Basketball Showcase in Kearney Saturday.

PAXTON - The Maywood-Hayes Center boys basketball team continued to come up clutch in close contests last week, holding off a Hi-Line rally Tuesday in a 53-45 victory before rallying from a 14-point deficit on the road for a 53-50 win over Paxton Friday.

The Medicine Valley girls basketball team will continue to search for a win as action heats up in the new year. Med.

The Arapahoe bowling teams split with McCook last Thursday with the Warriors downing the Bison in the girls contest, 19-2, while the boys fell 21-0. For the girls, Arapahoe dropped just two points in the match as Lauren Moore led the way with a games of 180 and 195 for the Warriors.
