In May, we celebrate Renewable Fuels Month. It’s a time to celebrate Nebraska’s farmers, rural communities, and home-grown energy. Nebraska farmers fuel the world through the production of biofuels like ethanol and biodiesel. I introduced a bipartisan resolution to designate May 2025 as Renewable Fuels Month in America. Biofuels are a win for Nebraska and a win for America.

In 1959, the Oklahoma Sooners’ football team arrived in Lincoln carried by the momentum of a 74-game conference winning streak. It had been 17 long years since the Nebraska Cornhuskers had last defeated them. On paper, the Sooners dominated; however, the Huskers came out on top, 25-21. It was an upset for the Husker history books; one so momentous that classes were canceled the following Monday to celebrate.

MAYWOOD – The Frontier County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene of an accident by a passerby on Road 749, east of Maywood, last Thursday, May 8, around 7:00 p.m. According to Sheriff Michael Jordan, the teenage victim of the one-vehicle accident was pronounced dead at the accident site.

(Hastings, Neb.) – Special recognition awards were presented April 30 at the Student Awards Gala at Central Community College-Hastings. Student Leaders Awards were presented to students recognized as leaders outside of clubs and organizations by participating in roles that contributed to the goals of CCC’s mission statement.
