Cambridge Board of Education met on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. All board members were present for the meeting. After the Pledge of Allegiance and the Open Meetings Announcement, the board approved the Agenda and the minutes from the April 14, 2025, Board of Education meeting.

BARTLEY – In addition to the village board and employees, ten citizens attended Bartley’s regular board meeting on May 13. Kathy Hansen shared that on June 27, 320 bikers with the Tour De Nebraska will stop off at Bartley.

During the Maywood School Board monthly meeting on May 12, the board accepted the resignation of English teacher Rachel Callis and approved the hiring of Lehandre Venter. Venter, a South African native, who is currently teaching in Panama, has impressive credentials that include serving as head school master in China for five years.

Southern Valley’s Tylor Grove shot an 87 to take fifth and four others medaled at the Knipping Invite held in Oxford last week. McCook and Holdrege tied for the team title with a 350.

A memorial graveside service for John William Tiedje will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Moses Hill Cemetery in rural Loomis, Nebraska, with Pastor Brad Perry officiating.

Duane Edward Kelly Sr, the son of Lawrence and Juanita (Stroud) Kelly, was born on March 27, 1945 in Merna, Nebraska. He passed away on May 5, 2025 at his home in Hardy, Nebraska at the age of 80 years, 1 month, 8 days.

Jane Marie Blume-McConville, age 90, of McCook, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, surrounded by her loving family. Jane was born on November 1, 1934, in McCook to Walter and Marie (Wagoner) Shirley.

A funeral service for David L. Culver will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Orleans Presbyterian Church in Orleans, Nebraska with Pastor Dave Irwin officiating. Interment will follow at the Stamford Cemetery in Stamford, Nebraska with Pastor Thalia Woodworth officiating.

Marvin Henry, 88, of Maywood, NE passed away on May 04, 2025 at his home in Maywood. Visitation will take place Sunday, May 18, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Maywood Public Schools.
