Phelps-Gosper 4-H Youth shine at public speaking contest

The 2025 Phelps-Gosper 4-H Public Speaking Contest took place Thursday, April 10, at the Elwood Civic Center. Four 4-H members showcased their communication skills by delivering speeches and public service announcements (PSAs) centered on the theme of 4-H. Linda Dannehl served as the judge for this year’s contest.

On May 1, 2025 our Heavenly Father took Irene Louise Kenning in His loving embrace and called her home, ending her enduring battle with cancer. Irene was born September 30, 1950 in Lexington, NE to Clifford and Laura (Voss) Wilcox.

Ronald D. Archer

Ronald (Ron) David Archer 65, passed away on April 27, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born on February 12, 1960, to Doyle and Lois Archer (Sansom) at Norton County Hospital, Norton, Kansas. Ron was welcomed home to the family farm by his three older siblings. Later, he proudly became a big brother to five more siblings. As Ron often fondly recalled, it was his sisters who “ran the roost” as they grew up together.
