Heritage Antique Tractor Club visits Holtze farm

Kenny and Carla Holtze hosted the Heritage Antique Tractor Club of McCook on Saturday, September 27. There were about 15 tractors on display, including 2 Allis Chalmers, a Minneapolis, a Farmall, a Bolens, an Oliver, and a bunch of the other green ones.

Mary Elizabeth Schaffert, 82, was born at home in Frontier County in 1942 to Sylvia Devona (Poteet) Schaffert and Edwin Waldemar Schaffert, and died September 21, 2025. In 1949, the family moved to the farm southeast of Curtis, NE, which was “home” no matter where she lived.

Rosann Marie Russell was born in McCook, Nebraska on June 13, 1956 to Dora and (William) Alwyn Russell of Arapahoe, Nebraska and went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 20, 2025 after a losing battle with melanoma.

ARAPAHOE - A wild fourth quarter led to heartbreak for the Arapahoe football team as the visiting Alma Cardinals snatched a victory with a pair of touchdowns in the final minutes. Alma scored twice in the final 3:30, finishing a pair of drives sandwiched around a successful onside kick to erase a late 12-point deficit and take a 36-34 lead with about a minute left.

EUSTIS - Everything about Thursday’s volleyball tilt between Hi-Line and Wallace was a dead heat, but when RiLee Schutz’s serve landed just inside the baseline, the Bulls celebrated their thirdstraight victory with a 24-26, 25-17, 28-26, 18-25, 16-14 win over the visiting Wildcats.
