The Furnas County 4-H Council and Furnas County 4-H Clubs are excited to present the 2026 4-H Carnival to be held Saturday, April 18th beginning at 6:00 pm at the Ella Missing Center in Arapahoe. ELWOOD - The Hi-Line boys and the Cambridge girls each took third place to lead local teams at the Hi-Line Invite Thursday. For the Bulls, their 400 relay team of Justin Ervin, Brody Diefenbaugh, Cooper Knackstedt and Kane Cochrane ran a 44.93 to take first place.

JOHNSON LAKE - Led by the individual champion, the Cambridge boys golf team medaled three and captured their first team title at an invite in at least four years Tuesday at the Hi-Line Invite at Johnson Lake.

Congressman Adrian Smith, who represents Nebraska’s Third District, visited the area last week with stops in Cambridge and Alma Wednesday and Elwood and Curtis Thursday. Smiths visits were generally with community leaders, including mayors, local government representatives and business leaders.

The U.S. Drought Monitor is published weekly by the National Drought Mitigation Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The latest update shows that areas of extreme drought have doubled in Nebraska. Locally, light precipitation fell last week and forecasts early this week showed chances again this weekend, but those have dwindled.
