The Cambridge High School Seniors worked together on their annual service project recently. They cleaned up trash and trimmed trees at the cemetery.

About 320 incoming and returning students have received scholarships for the 2026-27 academic year at Central Community College-Grand Island. Area students are: Academic Opportunity Scholarship -OXFORD: Tytus Hall.

Special recognition awards were presented April 28 at the Student Recognition and Award Ceremony at Central Community College-Hastings. Resident assistants (RAs) are responsible for promoting and maintaining an inclusive and collegiate community in the residence halls.-BEAVER CITY: Nathaniel Grilli, Gabe Grove and Tylor Grove.

The Platte Basin Coalition, the Lower Platte River Drought Consortium, the Republican River Basin NRDs, and the Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment (DWEE) are urging the public to utilize water conservation best practices due to the ongoing presence of drought conditions throughout Nebraska. As of April 30th, the National Drought Mitigation Center finds that 2% of the state is experiencing exceptional drought (D4), 55% of the state is experiencing extreme drought (D3), 21% of the State is experiencing severe drought (D2), and 9% of the state is experiencing moderate drought (D1). While recent rains have been helpful, they have not been sufficient to substantially alter the drought conditions for many areas of the state.

Myrna Haag May 4, 2026 It’s Tuesday morning and my patio is almost damp. Sure hope it gets really wet and that there’s a couple of inches in the rain gauge before the sun shines again.

When was the last time you thought about your neck? It’s easy to overlook, but your neck is a remarkably busy place. It houses the spinal cord, carrying signals between your brain and the rest of your body. It allows food to travel from your mouth to your stomach. It delivers blood to your brain. It contains muscles that support and move your head, along with your vocal cords, thyroid, and parathyroid glands.

As I’m sitting here through the annual athletic and academic awards night ceremony at my children’s school, it got me feeling nostalgic. Nearly 16 years ago, my wife and I took a small leap and moved our family from Lincoln to Cambridge. First, the move happened because of a job opportunity. But second and more importantly, we were thinking about the future.
