Senate Internship Opportunities for Nebraska’s Future Leaders

Body
Last summer, my team and I launched our internship program in Nebraska and Washington. Over the past year, we’ve welcomed 23 young professionals into our offices. The experience gives future leaders from across our state an opportunity to serve their fellow Nebraskans. They gain valuable professional skills. They also receive hands-on experience working in public policy, communications, and constituent services. I’m grateful to each intern we’ve had so far for their contributions to our team.

Bloom where you are planted

Body
Sometimes, the Good Lord is trying to reach you and you’re just not getting the message. Behind my offi ce in Cambridge is a rocked parking lot and each spring, the City sprays ground sterilant across this parking lot to keep weeds and grass and other growing annoyances away.

What to do about marijuana?

Body
There are so many questions. Is it safe? Does pot smoking lead to the use of hard drugs? What is the risk of pot smoking during pregnancy? Does marijuana have medical value in treating disease? Does smoking pot relieve the side effects of cancer treatment?

Sen. Steve Erdman: A New Tax Revolt

Body
Are you satisfied with your property valuation? The time has come to revolt. Nebraskans will never be heard until we collectively decide to protest our valuations. Protesting valuations is the most cost-efficient way to lead a tax rebellion. Therefore, I want to encourage every property owner in Nebraska to file a protest. Form 422 must be delivered in person to the county clerk or mailed with a postmark no later than June 30, 2024. Instructions for filing and Form 422 can be found on the Nebraska Department of Revenue’s website at https://revenue. nebraska.gov. Let this be the year when our elected officials hear our collective cry against unabated and ever-increasing property taxes.

Celebrating Nebraska Biofuels

Body
June marks the start of a busy summer driving season. This year, many American families are feeling the pain of prices at the pump. Since Joe Biden took office, gas prices have risen over 54%.Biofuels like ethanol and biodiesel are one solution to relieve that burden. That’s why I’ve fought as governor and senator to make biofuels more available to American drivers year-round. Earlier this year, I asked for the administration to allow the summer sale of E15 nationwide. That request was granted.

Doing the People’s Work: Property Tax Reform

Body
Over the past few weeks, Nebraskans across the state have begun receiving their property valuation notices. The common reaction to those statements can be summed up in one word -- outrage. One Nebraskan recently interviewed for a news story had the perfect reaction to the question “what goes through your head when viewing your property tax valuations?” Her response: “I can’t say that on TV.” She is not alone. Countless Nebraskans are in disbelief when they see the recent increases in their home values.

Israel’s Rescue Mission

Body
Illegal immigration is not a victimless crime. An influx of illegal immigrants can drive down wages for working Americans, drive up drug and human trafficking, and strain government resources meant for American citizens.

Urinary leakage in men and women

Body
As husband and wife urologists, we talk a lot about the urinary tract and how it affects our patients. In women, the most common urinary concern is incontinence, or the involuntary leakage of urine. There are several causes and many treatment options exist depending on the type.
