Beaver City’s Centennial will be the big news in 1972 and plans are being formulated by 19 members of the Centennial Committee.
Senator Richard Lewis, representative from this legislative district, was the guest speaker at the Mariners meeting of the Presbyterian Church last Wednesday. His wife is the former Mildred Fletcher from Beaver City.
Two-way radios are being installed in the Beaver City School buses.
The Virgil Einspahrs report their 125-acre milo field made from 50 to 90 bushels per acre.
The home of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Kirste in Hendley sold at auction last Monday to Jerry Smith for $1,200.
Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Clason, Ellen Powell and Roger and Mrs. Don Nitzel and Samantha attended the funeral of Maggie Powell at Lyle, Kans., on Saturday.

After breaking ground last week for the new swimming pool, the southwest section of Ward Two has been a beehive of construction activity.
Mr. and Mrs. Orel Olinger, better known as Orel and Sue, will open their clothing store in the location of the former Hubbard Clothing Store on the west side of the square. Drop in for coffee and donuts and get acquainted.
Chester Johnson, farmer north of Beaver City, was the only wheat show award winner from Furnas County at the 1956 Nebraska Wheat Show at Alliance last week.
Dean Coffey, Jess Keezer and Jim Bowen spent the weekend with their families here, returning to their work in Denver on Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Dahlgren and family of Holdrege, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Beeler and Miss Anna Manley were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Theobald and family.
Three more Furnas County rural school buildings will be sold at auction on Saturday: District 29 (the Sunflower School) on the highway 3 miles west of Wilsonville; District 43 (the Kircher School) 6 miles southeast of Wilsonville; and District No. 38 (the South Rockton School) 7-1/2 miles south and 1/4 mile west of Hendley.

The Beaver City Boy Scout Troop 237, including 18 boys and leaders Clarke Kelley, W. W. Lutton and Harold Oehlerking, attended a Commando Camporee last Thursday and Friday on the Platte River north of Loomis and won the Prairie District Camporee Championship.
Hendley - S|Sgt. Dean Wolzen, F-5 Albert Dreier and Cpl. Bertell Martin arrived home the first of the week. They will receive their discharges December 1.
Mrs. Cora Maret, Judy and Dorothea, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Maret of Grand Island were Monday night and Tuesday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Linner and baby.
Members of the Beaver City High School Junior Class will present “The Bargain Bride”, a screamingly funny play guaranteed to help everyone laughing from start to finish. The cast includes Donna Beeler, Arlene Weatherwax, Bonnie Duval, Carol Harrold, Evelyn Collins, Roberta Keiser, Lola Becker, Eula Mae Cass, Darrel Lamb, Clarke Woodruff and Marian Dawson. John Simmons will act as business and stage manager. Mrs. Grace Reilly is the director.

Beaver City Free Day attracted large crowds throughout the enjoyable day. The day was capped off with a 13-0 football win over Republican City, fireworks and a dance at Horton Park. Over fifteen hundred people visited the Oriental Theatre during the day for the free Henry Fonda movie, which should give some idea of the crowds in town.
Dale Babcock returned home last week from Glenwood Springs, Colo., in the company of Burge Lofgreen of Norton for an elk hunt.
Hollinger - Tilson Brown, James Van Matre and Miss Genevieve Van Matre left Saturday for Rock Springs, Wyo., for a three week vist.
King, Optician and Jeweler, is now located in the Goble Jewelry Store. Eyes examined free.
The new 1937 Plymouth is now on display at Shafer and Son Department Store.

Born - To Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Olmsted, Sunday, October 18, a son, Lloyd Delbert.
At a special meeting of Beaver City Lodge A. F. and A. M., held Monday evening, it was unanimously decided to build a Masonic Temple upon the lots owned by the lodge situated on the east side of the square.
The Beaver City ladies kittenball team went to Arapahoe last Thursday and defeated the Arapahoe ladies again 11 to 7. A third game between the two teams will be played here today at Horton›s Park, weather permitting.
Hendley - Mr. and Mrs. J. A. John and Miss Elsie entertained Sunday in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester John of Campbell as follows: Mr. and Mrs. Edd John and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight John, Miss Daisy Stearns and George and Emery John.

A Beaver City post of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion was formed Wednesday evening. Mrs. G. B. Jewett was elected president; Mrs. S. R. Reed, vice president; Mrs. H. B. Hall, secretary; and Mrs. C. A. Dillon, treasurer. A large number are expected to join this organization.
Praise and congratulations continue to come in from near and far over the completion of Beaver City’s impressive entertainment hub.
Hendley - A crowd of neighbors and friends surprised Mr. and Mrs. Jake Gill on Saturday evening by giving them a farewell reception as they expect to move to Beaver City soon.
Harold Lloyd comedies are the feature this week at the Liberty Theatre in Beaver City.
