Sgt. Tom Davis of the McCook Armory is pictured presenting Mayor Steve Forbes with the papers signifying the transfer of the tank›s ownership to the City of Beaver City. The tank is located in the Westside Park. Also pictured is City Marshal Bob Hester, who laid the groundwork for making the tank in Beaver City a reality.
The ice pond, located at the golf course, is frozen over and ready for skating. It has nice lighting so evening skating can be enjoyed.
Beaver City fourth graders discuss their Christmas plans. They are Danielle Wentz, Brent Hall, Jason Huerta, Mike Powell, Chelsey Weaver, Jon Mazeraz, Cristal Furrey, Samantha Sinsel, Amber Newton, Cristy Filiatrault, Vanessa Robbins, Joshua Armijo and Naomi Marble. Their teacher is Mrs. Nancy McClelland.
Monday Night Bridge Club met with Marjorie Graham last Monday night. Present were Florine Theobald, Irma Haas, Eleanor Lindsey, Sherida Vahle, Letha Campbell, Dorothy Schmidt, June Hedges and Blanch Feusner.
Terry and Cathy John, Wilva Hutchens, Norval and Irma Mart, Dave and Sharon Hyke, Harry and Jan Brown and Cotton and Bonnie McClain added their names to the decorated list in Hendley. With the street decorations now on, the town is really pretty for a little town.
The congregation of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford welcomed eight new members Sunday during morning worship. Later, at a reception during Sunday School hour coffee and rolls, prepared and served by the Church Council, were enjoyed. On Wednesday, more than 70 enjoyed the annual Trinity Lutheran Church WELCA Senior Citizen’s Christmas dinner at the Stamford Community Building. A delicious meal of ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans, salad and dessert were served by the WELCA ladies. Reverend Michael Bell, on guitar, led everyone in singing Christmas carols.

Adopted - By Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Payne, a daughter Kaylyn Marcia, born November 14. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lester Payne of Beaver City.
The Friendship Club met Wednesday afternoon a the home of Twila Fults for their last meeting ever. A Christmas party and gift exchange were enjoyed by Pauline Rennecker, Dorothy Lambert and Pauline Ford. Over the 50 years the club was in existence, the club has had over 74 members from their neighborhood south of town.
Wilsonville won a close one over Stamford last Friday night, the varsity winning 40-35 and the reserves winning 25-20.
The CWC of the Free Methodist Church present awards of requirements on Thursday evening to Becky Robinson and Steve Budd. Plans were made for the Christmas party this Saturday at the Beaver City Manor.
Tim Hedges and Pat Theobald of Fairbury were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walt Hedges and Carol Theobald and Kathy.
Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Einspahr and family were Sunday dunner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Wolzen and family at Arapahoe.
Hendley - Mr. and Mrs. Butch Hardenbrook and Kimberly were Saturday supper guests in the Bud Hardenbrook home. Ruth Lambert, Sue Hardenbrook and Vona Hardenbrook were in McCook on Thursday.

Art Kinsman was elected chief of the Beaver City Volunteer Fire Department at Wednesday evening’s annual meeting. Other officers are: Lyle Mayo, assistant chief; Roy Brown, president; Merlin Kentfield, vice president; C. Earl Haase, secretary; and Ed Kniep, treasurer.
This year, starting with the first now (and we hope the boys have a busy season), members of the Beaver City High School “B” Club will turn to the snow shovels for financing an all-conference plaque.
Beaver City grade school students will present “The Christmas Story In Pageant and Song” Tuesday evening at the Beaver City High School Auditorium under the direction of Mrs. JoAnn Hall and Miss Carol Faw, assisted by high school music instructor Mr. Clyde Morris.
Billy May, son of Mr. and Mrs. Merl May, was honored Saturday for his 8th birthday when his grandmother Mrs. Eunice May was a dinner guest. Later that afternoon, David Theobald, Wayne Clements and Raymond Keezer were guests for supper and then attended the movies.
Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Martin were Wednesday night supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Martin and sons for Bryan’s birthday. Evening guests were Mr. and 902 Mrs. Gene Duval and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Nes Weber. Telephone calls were received from daughters Doris Wentling of Lincoln, Zola hist McCarty and Myrtle Mathiot of Aurora, 1-1/ Ore., and Evelyn Kinne.

Sixty years ago, Kelleys Market started For business in a modest way on the west side of offi the square. Today, operated by the Theobald twins John and Robert, grandsons of broc founder J. W. Kelley, the store is one of the most modern and convenient markets in this section of the state. A grand opening sale on Saturday, December 21 will show off the completely remodeled and updated store.
Coach Virgil Korte started basketball practice December 2 with five lettermen from last year›s state tournament squad. Lettermen are Bill Becker, Robert Phelps, Hal Richards, Joe Atkins and Dick Wentling. Minor lettermen are Bob Nitzel, Richard Smith, Clarke Woodruff and Wendell Wentling. Bill Williamson, letterman from Stratton, will bolster the team second semester.
Saturday morning, 21 men with wagons and team went to the Bryan Martin farm and shucked 1,000 bushels of corn for him. The ladies took dinner, which was served at the Spring Green Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hinkle, Charlotte and Donnie of Trenton moved this week each ing, to the Dr. P. D. Fleming home in the First Ward.

Congressman C. G. Binderup, engineers and officials visited four prospective dam sites for the Beaver-Sappa irrigation project with a number of Beaver City boosters on Tuesday. Two sites are on the Beaver Creek OX and two on the Sappa Creek. Locations are: 1.) the H. A. Cox farm southeast of Beaver OX City; 2.) near the Needmore school house overlooking the R. E. Clements farm southwest of Beaver City; 3.) just east of the Beaver City-Norton highway on the Ralph Guy and P. C. Smith farms; and 4.) south of the old Lutton place just east of town.
Hollinger - The Misses Helen and Frances Bonser were Friday evening supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Hall.
Precept - Mr. and Mrs. Earl Volgamore, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil McCarty and Mrs. James McCarty spent Sunday evening with Grandma Vining.
Miss Peggy Noel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Noel, underwent an appendicitis operation at the Brewster Hospital in Holdrege on Friday.
Even Santa Claus does his Christmas shopping in Beaver City.

The committee in charge of meeting the requirements of the state banking board in regard to the First State Bank have accomplished satisfying results and it is thought the bank will be re-opened early the first part of the year.
W. E. Bratt has been appointed city clerk, Harry B. Hall having resigned.
The Burlington is again cutting expenses, this time by eliminating all of the station helpers on the St. Francis branch.
School News - The kindergarten room is already full of the Christmas spirit. Each child is doing his bit to spread Christmas cheer by little kindnesses to others and by keeping happy himself.

An unfortunate woman and four young children came to Beaver City on the freight train Wednesday morning and put in the time for an hour or two soliciting funds to buy a passage on the passenger train to St. Francis.
The weather was so balmy on Sunday, Decembe 11 that a Beaver City family took their lunch baskets and went to Wildcat Canyon for a picnic dinner. Can you beat it?
