MANCHESTER, NH (01/14/2025)- Crystal Basnett of Oxford (68967) and William Taylor of Lincoln have been named to Southern New Hampshire University’s (SNHU) Fall 2024 President’s List. The fall terms run from September to December.

Huff played at Hastings College Honor Band & Choir Festival

HASTINGS, Nebraska (January 15, 2025) - Hastings College held its 61st Annual Honor Band and 53rd Annual Honor Choir concert on Monday, January 20, at 5:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Hastings (621N Lincoln Avenue). The concert was free and open to the public, and was livestreamed on the Hastings College YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/hastingscollege.

Maywood National Honor Society Food Drive

The Maywood National Honor Society Chapter held its animal food drive dnring the month of December. A goal was set to collect 1,000 food and hygiene items for the school’s student pantry and for the Frontier County Food Pantry. The goal of 1000 was exceeded and at the last count, a total of 1,154 items had been collected, with more continuing to arrive. NHS members delivered donated items to The Frontier County Pantry in Curtis on January 9, 2025. The Frontier County Food Pantry serves an average of 85 households per month with canned goods, dry goods, meat choices, and hygiene items. Families who benefit from the pantry live throughout Frontier County and the surrounding communities. The pantry is non-profit and functions on donations like the food drives our community schools support. A huge thank you goes out to Maywood National Honor Society and the families of Maywood Schools for their support of the NHS food drive! Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA), located in Curtis, has long been recognized for its commitment to the agricultural industry by offering only ag-based majors and certifications. Additionally, the college boasts a nationally-ranked veterinary tech program. Now, the school may add inspiring the formation of an FFA chapter to its glowing resume.

Red Willow/ Hitchcock County GOP to hold joint meeting

The Red Willow/Hitchcock county GOP (Republican Party) will hold a joint meeting on January 28, 2025, at Bedore Barn/Marlene’s Kitchen (38404 Road 719, McCook, NE). All area Republicans are welcome to attend this monthly meeting. An open discussion/think tank discussion will begin at 6:30 pm so join everyone for an early Meet/Greet at 6:00 pm.

Indianola Preparing to Move Two Historic Buildings

INDIANOLA – Local businessman Paul Schaffert is excited that the community is coming together to secure the area’s history while promoting tourism. Approximately forty residents and business leaders gathered in the community building for the Indianola Historical Society’s monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 14.
