The Elwood Public Schools Board of Education met on Monday, March 11th, 2024. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m.

The Garden Prairie Church located 15 miles south of Maywood junction will host a Pancake, Sausage & Eggs Benefit on March 17th from 5-7:30 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.

Cambridge City Council met in regular session on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. All council members were present for the meeting.

Miss Micky and Miss Makayla from the Furnas County Extension Office went to the Southern Valley Kindergarten classrooms yesterday to talk about embryology. The kindergartners are very excited and can’t wait for their chicks to hatch in 21 days!

March 5, 2024 -- The University of Wyoming lists the following students from Nebraska on the 2023 fall semester academic Dean’s and Dean’s Freshman Honor Rolls. The honor rolls consist of regularly enrolled undergraduates above freshman standing who earned a 3.4 or better grade-point average, and freshmen who have earned a 3.25 or better grade-point average.

The Arapahoe City Council met for their regular meeting on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 7:30 pm. The council approved the consent agenda which included minutes of the previous meeting and claims.

By Guyla Mills To appear on the May 14 primary ballot, incumbents had a filing deadline of February 15 and non-incumbent candidates had until March 1 to throw their proverbial hat in the ring. Village board races appear only on the general ballot, so incumbents have until July 15 to file with new candidates having an August 1 deadline to file for office.

According to Jim Cave, who serves as chair of the Beaver City Planning Commission, the proposed new livestock barn will benefit the entire area. “I’m excited for the 4-H kids, but this project is going to be good for the entire county,” he said.
