The Village of Oxford Board of Trustees heard from Bobbi Pettit of 5 Rule Rural Planning during their meeting on Thursday, January 11. The Village has contracted with 5 Rule for community planning projects.

The snow last week must have fogged my mind and I let news day slip past me. We did have our snow, maybe not quite as much as forecasted, but the piles it made were enough.

The Red Willow County GOP (Republican Party) will resume regular monthly (4th Tuesday) meetings for 2024. The meeting will be January 23, 2024, at 6:30 pm (meet/ greet) followed by the business meeting at 7:00 pm at Bedore Barn/Marlene’s Kitchen (38404 Road 719, McCook, NE).

Southwest Public School hosted children’s author Amanda Radke recently. The kids of every age group from Kindergarten to seniors asked tremendous questions and represented the school very well.

The Arapahoe City Council met on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 7:30 pm. The council approved the consent agenda which included the minutes of the previous meeting, an SDL for Old Cellar Vineyard, and claims. The claims were approved but a check to Olsson Associates was removed. The council felt they needed to see a plan in place before paying the invoice.

The Indianola City council opened the January 15th meeting at 5:30 p.m. by approving the minutes of January 2, 2024 as written. Council member Marks motioned and Fries seconded the approval of the December 2023 Treasurer Report and file for audit. City personnel reported that the previous weeks were filled with loads and loads of snow removal. The city skid steer is still in the shop with drive motor issues, and a substitute skid steer is being used in its place. A city pickup has also been taken to the shop for various repairs. The meeting adjourned at 5:41 p.m.
