✩ ✩ Beaver City Passes Fireworks Ordinance BEAVER CITY – The city council passed a fireworks ordinance during their July 3 meeting. Residents will have to acquire a permit from the city office to set off fireworks except for eleven days during the calendar year: January 1, June 28-July 4, December 24-25, and December 31.

This year’s Holbrook Days Parade Grand Marshall was Leola Mooney. Mooney grew up in the Holbrook area.

Groundwater decline is a serious problem in parts of the country, but not in the Lower Republican Natural Resources District in south-central Nebraska, one of 23 such districts across the state. Farmers and producers in the district have thrived despite nearly 20 years of the strictest water allocations and restrictions in the state.

Paul Douglas Brooks of Arapahoe is facing three more charges of sexual assault after being arraigned in Furnas County Court on Monday, June 26. The charges come three days after a jury found Brooks guilty of sexual assault of a child on Friday, June 23.

The Arapahoe City Council discussed bids for downtown revitalization, city property and more in its meeting on Tuesday, June 20. The total bid for changes made to downtown Arapahoe came in at $842,326 with lighting and changes made, which was a $65, 000 higher than initially planned.
