The Nebraska Legislature is a unique institution, given its status as the country’s only unicameral and nonpartisan legislature. While there are certainly drawbacks to a unicameral system, an added benefit of our legislature gives every member a fairly equal set of responsibilities. With the addition of term limits, Nebraska has largely prevented a deep entrenchment of established power in the Nebraska legislature for some time. Our citizen legislature enables those with criticisms of the status quo to bring the message of their constituents to bear.

Five nRDs awarded funding for pasture improvement projects

(Grand Island, NE) - Five Natural Resources Districts (NRDs) were recently awarded grant funding for the “Partnering to Preserve Central Nebraska’s Core Grasslands” project sponsored by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation ( HYPERLINK “https://www.nfwf.org/” \\t “_blank” https://www.nfwf. org/). The partnering NRDs include Central Platte, Twin Platte, Tri-Basin, Middle Republican and Lower Loup.

Brown graduates from Chadron State College

Chadron State College’s combined undergraduate and graduate winter commencement exercises were canceled Dec. 16, due to heavy snowfall and high winds. The list of candidates includes summer graduates and consists of 71 names for master’s degrees and for 108 bachelor’s degrees.

Longsine receives UNL degree

LINCOLN, NE (12/19/2022)-- The University of Nebraska-Lincoln conferred 1,288 degrees during commencement exercises Dec. 16 and 17 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
