Thanksgiving had come and gone, but there were still a couple days left on a long weekend. Typically, the anticipation is killing us and we’d have started decorating for Christmas already, but the weather was good Saturday and it was time to deck the halls, string the lights and tie down the inflatables.

This year nearly 250,000 patients will be diagnosed with lung cancer and 130,000 will die from it. In SD, 660 people will be diagnosed and over 400 will die from the disease.

Southwest NHS helps Ronald McDonald House

Every year, a group of volunteers from Southwest High School’s National Honor Society in Bartley, NE travel to help at the Ronald McDonald House in Omaha. Last week they deep cleaned the kitchen, as well as weighed and delivered pop tabs to the recycler. They also donated pop tabs and $200.

As I write this on Tuesday morning, IT’S SNOWING!! Not a lot, but at least it’s white out there. But as I look out my east window, I can see why I’m hearing the radio talk about slick roads. That window has a solid sheet of ice. Hope everyone is staying safe.
