ARAPAHOE – Two months ago, Iryna Kuliieva could be found sitting in the bleachers cheering on the Warriors. Now, the 16-year-old former foreign exchange student is a Ukrainian refugee living in the Netherlands with family friends.

With extremely dry conditions in our area, fires have been a problem for area fire departments in recent weeks. Arapahoe Fire Chief Brian Sisson reported that they have been called for mutual aid to Cambridge and Oxford in recent weeks.

Cambridge City Council met in regular session on Monday, March 21, 2022. Council member Mike Harris was absent. Many guests were in attendance at the meeting. After the recognition of the Open Meeting Laws and the Pledge of Allegiance, a public hearing was held to consider the preliminary plat of the proposed Williams Addition and the Williams First Addition subdivision.

BARTLEY – The regular village board meeting was held on March 8, 2022. It was determined that the village will advertise for one part-time position that will encompass various duties: zoning administrator, building code enforcement/inspection, and nuisance abatement.

The Holbrook Village Board held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, March 14th. Chairman Matt Schultz called the 6:30 p.m.

100 Years Ago March 23, 1922 “A Night at the Orpheum” as interpreted by the Oxford American Legion was presented at the auditorium to a packed house. As a result of a blizzard Oxford has been made a Burlington division.

10 years ago Arapahoe Girl Scouts troops gathered at the ball field on Monday afternoon to celebrate the 100 th birthday of Girl Scouts by releasing 100 balloons. The Arapahoe School Board of Education hired Debra Campbell Smith for elementary special education and John Strand as secondary math instructor.
