My intention is to get news sent in on Monday’s. That often doesn’t happen. Tuesday morning was absolutely gorgeous and I forgot all about needing to get the news sent in. What a welcome day after Monday’s wind. We’ve seen worse, but it was a typical March day. Now if we can just get some moisture.Now, it’s deadline time, all I have time for is the greetings.

Gov. Ricketts, Ethanol Board Showcase UNL Research on Safety and Efficiency of E30 Biofuel

LINCOLN — Monday, Governor Pete Ricketts announced the results of a E30 demonstration project conducted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) with support from the State’s Department of Administrative Services (DAS). The ground-breaking research clearly demonstrates that E30, gasoline blended with 30% ethanol, is safe for long-term use in non flex fuel vehicles (FFVs). Orleans Library and Hotel added to National Register of Historic Places

Two buildings in Orleans have made their mark on the historical map. The Orleans Hotel and Cordelia B. Preston Memorial Library are now included on the National Register of Historic places. Notification was received on February 26, 2021 that the nominations had been approved. This was a process that had to begin with a submission to the State Historical Society. Consideration is not based on specific age, but the property had to be kept much like it was when first built. They were assigned a national registry coordinator to aid in finishing the process.

CAMBRIDGE — The Cambridge Board of Education met Monday to discuss and approve the master calendar for the 2021-2022 school year, to announce changes to their COVID-19 response and to approve the non-renewal of the teaching contract for physical education teacher and football coach Rodney Yates.

AHS presents “HONK!” a musical comedy

Honk! A Musical Comedy was presented by the Arapahoe high school students on Saturday night directed by Mrs. Valerie Leising & Mrs. LeAndra Monie. It was a musical based off the tale of the Ugly Duckling. Cast members included Hannah Whitson (Ugly), Hope Koller (Cat/Old woman), Tracy Roskop (Ida), Isaac Goshert (Drake), Carrick McCorkle (Greylag/Peter), Josiah Goshert (Turkey), Anna tenBensel (Bullfrog), Areli Calamaco (Grace/Dot), Alese Williams (Maureen), Hilary Downey (Henrietta/Maggie Pie), Emerson Swanson (Lowbutt/Bewick), Titus Goshert (Winston/Barnacles/Father Swan/Froglet), Elizabeth Bell (Beaky/Pinkfoot/Froglet, River Einspahr (Fluff/Snowy/Froglet, Addie Jeffcoat (Downy/Froglet, Wayne Lee (Farmer voice/Billy/Maverick), Ashlee Durk (Boy’s Voice), Adrienne Bowers (Mother Swan/Camera person). Students on the tech/hair/costumes crew were Miya Odell, Ashlee Durk, Joslyn tenBensel, Joseph Callahan, Jordan Smith/Jadan Schulz, Areli Calamaco, BriAllen Tejcka & Ashlee Durk. Set by Jean Bockerman & Mrs. LeAndra Monie.
