BOB L. DUTTON
Bob L. Dutton of Eustis passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Gothenburg, Nebraska at the age of 78. Bob was born on January 1, 1948 in Lexington, Nebraska to James and Vera (Walker) Dutton.
Bob lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his work, his church, and the things he enjoyed most. He graduated from Hastings High School with the class of 1966, the same year he entered the U.S. Air Force. He served his country faithfully and was honorably discharged in 1970 as a Staff Sergeant. He later continued his education and earned an associate’s degree in Drafting from Hastings Community College in 1972.
On August 27, 1967, Bob married his high school sweetheart, Helen Leonard. Their marriage was a lasting and important part of his life.
Bob worked at Sperry New Holland until the company closed in 1985.
He then went to work at Baldwin Filters in Kearney in 1986, where he remained until his retirement in 2014. He was known as a hardworking man who gave many years to his profession.
Outside of work, Bob found joy in many interests and activities. He coached his children in baseball, sharing both his time and encouragement with them. He was an Oklahoma Sooner fan and a member of Eustis Methodist Church and American Legion Post 257. He also served for many years as a volunteer firefighter in Eustis, was a past chairman of the Frontier County Veterans Committee, and was a member of the Eustis Gun Club.
He enjoyed fly fishing, tying flies, home improvement projects, woodworking, shooting guns, and spending time with his beloved pets.
These interests reflected a man who liked staying busy, working with his hands, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life.
Bob will be remembered with love and gratitude by those who knew him. His life was one of service, commitment, and steady devotion, and his memory will remain dear to all whose lives he touched.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jim.
He is survived by wife Helen; three children Steve, Todd (wife Kate), and Bill; two grandchildren, Avery and Drew (Todd’s children); his beloved pets, Hope and Mee Mee; his brother Jack; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to the Eustis Methodist Church, Eustis Senior Center or Best Friends Sanctuary Utah. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome. com. A memorial service was held Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at the Eustis Methodist Church. Burial with military honors was held at 2:00 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Berryman Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
