Brenda J. West
She enjoyed going to the races in Lexington, playing Bingo, and watching the Royals and Huskers play on television. Brenda J. West, age 75, of Elwood, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, October 16th, 2022, at her home. She was born December 9th, 1946, at Fullerton, California to James & Bernice (De-Witt) Netherland.
She grew up in Scottsbluff, Nebraska and attended school at Scottsbluff High School.
After her schooling, she married David L. West on April 10, 1964, at Scottsbluff, Nebraska. To this union two children were born; Jim in 1965 and Stacy in 1967. They lived in Aurora, Brady, Gothenburg, and later in 1976 they moved to Elwood, Nebraska. While in Aurora she worked at the hospital as a candy stripe nurse, and also babysat for some families. David and Brenda would open West Drive-In in 1981 at Elwood and owned for a number of years. She loved her grandchildren and always loved to follow them in all their activities. She looked forward to her family coming to go hunting and her being She was preceded in death by her parents, husband David, sister-inlaw Barbara Stackhouse & Carol West, great-niece Alex Potter, brother-inlaw Gene Beohmer.
Brenda is survived by her children; Jim (Syndee) West of Wymore, Nebraska; Stacy (Roger) Schneider of Elwood, Nebraska; eight grandchildren, Chris West, Austin West, Samantha Houseman, Karen Schneider, Kevin Schneider, Emalee Maxson, Jacob Oblinger, Jalan Fields; and 8 great grandchildren, sisters Sue Beohmer of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Judy (Gary) Duncan of Greeley, Colorado, brotherin- law Dennis West of San Jacinto, California, sister-in-law LeAnne (Josh) Skavdahl of Harrison, Nebraska.
There will be no viewing or visitation as cremation was chosen.
Memorial service will be Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 2 PM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Elwood, Nebraska with Pastor Aaron Witt, officiating. Service will be livestreamed on “Our Redeemer Lutheran Church-Elwood, NE” YouTube page. Elwood Funeral Home of Elwood, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
