A Funeral Service for James C. “Jim” Logston was held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Orleans, Nebraska with Reverend Dr. W. Kirwin Stewart, Jr. and Mr. Neil Collins officiating. Interment followed at the Orleans Cemetery, Orleans, Nebraska, with military honors provided by the Orleans American Legion Post #184 and the United States Army National Guard Funeral Honors Team.

James Christian “Jim” Logston, 93 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, formerly of Orleans, died on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Jim was born on December 24, 1929, North of Oxford, Nebraska, in Furnas County, the youngest of six children, born to William Lawrence and Helen (Regelin) Logston.

He received his primary education from District #17 in Harlan County and then attended Oxford Public Schools and graduated from Oxford High School, with the class of 1948.

In January of 1951, Jim entered into the United States Army and served as a Sargent, during the Korean Confl ict. He was honorably discharged on January 12, 1954.

On December 10, 1954, Jim was united in marriage to Carole Dean Dymacek at the Buffalo Grove Presbyterian Church in rural Dawson County, Nebraska.

They were blessed with three children: James, Charles, and Jennifer.

Jim worked for the alfalfa mill and service station in Lexington, Nebraska; and then worked at the alfalfa mill in Orleans. The family moved to Seattle, Washington in 1956 and Jim began installing and selling for Fredrick and Nelson, an Interior Decorating Business for over 18 years. The family moved back to Orleans in 1976, and Jim began working for the Village of Oxford at the Light Plant; he later went to work at the Village of Orleans as the Utilities Superintendent. In 1987, Jim began working at BD as a custodian and later retired.

Jim was a member of the Orleans Presbyterian Church. He served as a Deacon and was active with the church choir for many years. He was also a member of the Orleans American Legion Post #184. In his free time, Jim enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carole in 2016; his five siblings: Larry Logston and wife, Mary Jean (Dymacek); Muriel Tammen; Evelyn Russell; Elma Johnston; and Ilene Russell.

Jim is survived by his children: James C.

“Chris” Logston, Jr. and his wife, Rebecca of Albany, New York; Charles E. Logston and his wife, Tricia of Holdrege; and Jennifer Graf and her husband, Chris of Orleans; seven grandchildren: Heather Logston and her husband, Matt Kruse; Shawn Logston and her husband, Ross Krawczyk; Hayden Logston and wife, Hannah; Devin Logston and his fiancée, KayLynn Leach; Jessica Ruthstrom and her husband, Jonathan; Christian Strickland and fiancée, Jessica Pasbrig; and Rylee Smith; six great-grandchildren: Finola and Oscar Knox Krawczyk; Trinity, Emma, and Jonathan Ruthstrom; and Huxten James Logston; brotherin- law, James Dymacek and his wife, Janis of Waverly, Nebraska; along with extended family and friends.
