Martha Jean “Jean” Lubeck, 96 years of age, of Alma, formerly of Stamford, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Good Samaritan Society – Colonial Villa in Alma. Jean was born on May 6, 1925, on the family farm in Phillips County, Kansas, south of Alma, the second of three children, born to Harry C. and Ella Lillian (Peterson) Hosea. Jean was taught to play the piano by her grandmother at a young age, as they gave her the option to practice piano or wash the dishes! She received her primary education from a country school in Kansas and then attended and graduated from Alma High School with the class of 1943.
On December 31, 1944, Jean was united in marriage to Ralph Lubeck at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford. This union was blessed with two sons: Bryan and Brock. The family made their home on a farm south of Stamford. Jean was a “Jill-of-all-Trades”! There weren’t too many jobs she couldn’t do, from upholstery to helping Ralph on the farm.
Jean was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford and played the organ for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Maverick Community Band, and also enjoyed playing the piano and clarinet, and she played in many Bridge Clubs.

Ehrke; and one sister-in-law, Evelyn (Keith) Petitjean.
She leaves to celebrate her life: two sons: Bryan Lubeck of Alma; and Brock Lubeck and his wife, Liz of O’Neill, Nebraska; nine grandchildren: James, Carol, and Sara; and Clinton, Cody, Sadie, Marshall, Anthony, and Austin; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Marjorie Ehrke of Stamford; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
