Mitchell “Mitch” James Soucek age 63 of McCook passed away with his wife and mother by his side on May 27, 2021, at the CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. He was born in Hastings, NE on August 25, 1957, to James and Joan (Wratten) Soucek. Mitch attended and graduated from Bladen High School in 1976.

In his early years, Mitch loved to be around and ride horses. In the 70s”, he was a professional bull rider on the Nebraska Circuit. Mitch loved to fish, camp at Harry Strunk Lake and Red Willow. He loved his dogs, and all were named after prize bucking bulls: Bruiser, Bushwhacker and Dodge. Mitch loved his family, especially his grandkids. He would take miscellaneous things and make general craft items for the family.

Mitch was united in marriage to Cindy (Reichstein) Brooks on May 12, 2000, in Las Vegas. The couple made their home in McCook. Prior to moving to McCook, Mitch lived in Hastings, NE moving to McCook in 2001. Mitch was employed as a compounder for Bruckman Rubber in Hastings, NE. He was recently employed by Valmont Industries as a galvanizer.

He was preceded in death by his father: James; 2 brothers: Tim and Jeff Soucek and a sister: Holly Timm.

Mitch is survived by his wife: Cindy of McCook; mother: Joan Soucek of Hastings; daughters: Amber Soucek and Becky Brooks; grandchildren: Tim, Sean (Jane) Anderson, Emily Anderson, Austin Rewerts and Logan Rewerts, Blakley Lynn Anderson; Aunt and uncles and host of friends.

Memorial services of Mitch will be held at the Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel on June 3, 2021 at 10:00 am with Rick Bradley officiating. Inurnment will be in the East Lawn Cemetery in Bladen, NE at 3:30 pm. Memorial may be left in Mitch’s name at the Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel.
