Robert Jerman, 86, of Absarokee, Montana, passed away on May 1, 2023. He was born on Nov. 28, 1936, in Fresno, California to parents who would raise a man that embodied resilience, curiosity, and an unwavering love for adventure.

Robert was an adventurer who remade himself many times over. After military service and college, he owned and operated a repossession agency in Red Bluff, CA and later became a rancher. He moved with his wife Arlene and two daughters to Arapahoe, NE in 1976 and worked in the insurance industry until his retirement.

During those years he also owned and operated Burger Bob’s, a small restaurant. Robert and Arlene moved to Absarokee, MT in 2004.

Robert’s love for his community was evident in his many acts of service.

He was a member of the Odd Fellows, served on the school board in Red Bluff, CA, the Airport Authority and Municipal Golf course in Arapahoe, NE, and the Cobblestone Community Center’s board in Absarokee, MT.

His generous spirit shone during Christmas when he acted as a secret Santa for those in need.

Passionate about motorcycles, the great outdoors, fishing, and flying, Robert found joy in every aspect of life. A loving companion to his pets, a prodigious reader, an intrepid traveler, and an enthusiastic cook, Robert embraced the world in its entirety and shared his passions with his daughters.

Robert is survived by his sister Christine Mann (Darrell); his children Shaun Pichler (Barry) and Janelle Jerman; grandchildren Sarah Pichler and Jesse Jacobs; and great-granddaughter Madison Jacobs. He is remembered as a man who showed up, who gave without asking, and who was profoundly proud of his family, and his service to his country and community.
