Vivian McDorman, 76 years of age, of rural Funk, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at the Christian Homes Care Community at Holdrege, Nebraska. Services are pending with the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

Alfred Jay Cass, age 102, went to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at the Beaver City Manor, Beaver City, Nebraska. He was just one week short of celebrating his 103rd Birthday. He was born on July 8, 1918, to Alin and Cecile (Clason) Cass at their home, southeast of Beaver City. He graduated from Beaver City High School in 1937 and after completing Normal Training, he taught in a country school for a short time. On April 9, 1939, he married Lola McConnell, who died on July 1, 1941, after giving birth to their daughter, Lola Gail. On July 12, 1942, he married Mildred Hilton, who died on January 29, 1999. At the time of her death, they had been married for fifty-seven years.

Michael Craig Harmon, age 68, of Arapahoe Nebraska passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at the Kearney Regional Hospital, in Kearney, Nebraska. He was born on May 27, 1953 at McCook, Nebraska to Leland and Lucille Rose (Klient) Grassmeyer. He was baptized on Sept. 27, 1955 at the First United Methodist Church in McCook, Nebraska and was confirmed on May 26, 1968 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington, Nebraska. He grew up in Lexington, Nebraska and graduated from Lexington High School in 1972. After high school, he joined the service in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1975. Then served in the Nebraska National Guard until May 27, 2013. He married Gloria Lynn Strickland on November 22, 1975 at Lexington, Nebraska. They made their home in Cozad, Nebraska while working at Malcom Motors and Sperry-New Holland Manufacturing. Mike would also work in Hays Spring, Nebraska for Mirage Flats Irrigation. They moved to Arapahoe, Nebraska and worked at S & L Service Station. They moved to Holbrook, Nebraska before moving back to Arapahoe. Mike would work for Eiler’s Machine and Welding Company in Lexington, Bessler’s in Cambridge, and Baldwin Manufacturing in Gothenburg. He was currently working for Becton-Dickinson Manufacturing in Holdrege.

A Graveside Service for Lila Mae Ellis will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at the Oxford Cemetery at Oxford, Nebraska with Chaplain Kathy Doiel officiating. The family requests casual attire for the service. Masks are requested by the family.

David “Dave” Lee Bridges, age 81, of Henderson, NE, died Friday, June 25, 2021 in Lincoln, NE. Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. Private family inurnment, with military honors, will take place at the Central City Cemetery. There will be no viewing; however, his family will greet friends between 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Metz Mortuary in Henderson. Dave’s memorial service will be webcast live on the church’s website at bethesdamc.org. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be directed to the Polk Public Schools FFA Chapter, or to the Nebraska Wildlife Conservation Fund. Condolences may be left for the family at www.metzmortuary.com. Metz Mortuary, Henderson is handling arrangements.

A Funeral Service for Maynard L. Falk will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Wilcox Community Church in Wilcox, Nebraska with Pastors Craig Cedar and Brian Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow at the Salem Cemetery, in rural Kearney County, Nebraska, near Axtell, Nebraska.

Leon E. Wright, age 78, of Indianola, NE, passed away at his home surrounded by family on June 23, 2021. He was born in Dodge City, KS on June 12, 1943, to James and Jessie (Schofield) Wright. The family moved to St. Francis, KS where Leon attended School. Leon attended Central Technical College at Hasting and studied welding. He later went to the University of Nebraska and studied concrete construction and concrete.

WARREN NEWCOMB

Warren Newcomb, age 93, passed away at his home near Cambridge on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. He was born on September 4, 1927, to parents W. D. and Pearl (Cotton) Newcomb. Warren attended country school through 8th grade at a one-room schoolhouse one-half mile east of his farm home. He attended and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1945. He then worked on the family farm with his father until he was drafted into the U.S. Army on March 6, 1946, where he served in the Army Air Corps. He was stationed on the Philippine Islands where he helped guard Japanese POWs after WW II had ended. After being honorably discharged on May 28, 1947, he returned home, using the money he had saved during his deployment to buy his first quarter of farm ground. Warren remained living on the family farm, homesteaded by his grandfather Newcomb, until his death. Warren loved to visit and always invited anyone who drove into the yard to come into his home for coffee and good conversation. Warren remained a bachelor all of his life, but he enjoyed time spent with his nieces and nephews and enjoyed going into town for supper.

DANNY E. DELANEY

Danny Eugene Delaney, 81, of Casper, WY passed away on June 9, 2021 of natural causes. Born in Beloit, Kansas in 1939, Danny was a graduate of Oxford High School in Oxford, Nebraska in 1958. He served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. In 1967 he married his wife of 54 years, Leann Rose Bowers. Danny moved his family to Casper in 1976. He retired from a career as a coal miner at Glenrock Coal in 1998. Danny was an outdoor person. He preferred to be outdoors as much as possible. He loved all kinds of animals and could often be found on the riverbanks of Casper feeding ducks, birds and squirrels. He was preceded in death by parents Gene and Erminie Delaney and younger siblings Barry and Darlene. Danny is survived by his wife Leann; daughter Lisa Kranz, son-in-law Brian and grandchildren Brennan and Delaney; daughter Erika Delaney Lew, son-in-law Hung and grandsons Quinn and Crispin. At Danny's request, there will not be a memorial service.
